A Birthing Poem

Warm blankets wrap around,
Excited nurses, doctors take their time.
Family members talk, text, and share,
Endless paperwork, medical supplies align.

IV kits, catheter kits at hand,
Blown IVs, contractions demand,
Deep breaths, holding breath,
Blue and white polka dots on hospital gown

Pink and blue straps secure the belly tight,
Baby's heartbeat echoes, movements take flight.
Anticipation builds, the room's alive,
Waiting for the moment, the doctor's arrival.

Exhausted from pain's relentless might,
Ready to meet your creation's first light.
Hours tick by, eternity's slow pace,
Nurses rush in, "The doctor's here, it's time."

Anesthesiologist arrives with skilled care,
Your mama suits up, love and support to share.
One last kiss, a tender, heartfelt goodbye,
Before the operating room's bright, sterile sky.

Green ceiling and lights, beeping noises loud,
Nurses ask, "Are you OK?" but fear clouds proud.
Numb yet feeling, right leg moves free,
Fourth C-section, pain's familiar decree.

Nausea waves, spinal's unwelcome guest,
Allergic to relief, your head's about to burst in unrest.
Blood pressure checks, every two minutes' pace,
Medications flow faster, icy cold takes its space.

Doctor enters, name and details shared,
Asks, "Do you feel this?" and you reply, "None," as expected, prepared but a lie.

Scalpel slices, gossip fills the air,
You focus away, eyes closed.

Tugging on your belly, breathing hard and slow,
Grunt escapes, nurses soothe, "You're doing good. It's almost over."

Mom sits beside, praying softly, love abounds,
Tears flow, face wet, waiting for that sacred sound.

Then, the moment, your heart beats for,
The cry.

Nothing else matters after!
